Saturn's moon collection.

(Science Week – Day 7!)

As happens, too many choices remain for the final day. Historic footage of a well-grounded public school teacher defending evolution in the American Scopes trial? The mind-stretching revelations of special relativity or the double-slit experiment?

But once again, the tranquility of our home system wins out: let our spines shiver in chorus at last year’s announcement of 20 uncatalogued Saturnian moons. The trip from learning our home planets “have” however many moons to the realization our capacity for discovery ever develops, is a human one.

(Also an example of the encouraging call for public input in proposing names for such things. The window is shut on these, but – I hope the sentiment is clear by now – there’s always next time.)
