Attenborough to world leaders.
(Science Week - Day 3!)
With roots running to the historical beginnings of the BBC, shirking desk work to get out into nature, Attenborough might be the person who has most affirmed people's curious and awed feelings about the natural world.
Fitting he was chosen to represent "the world's people," well into his tenth decade and seemingly as effervescent, mischievous and sincere as he ever was, to address the United Nations about the consequences of the century spent allowing insulating gases to seep over our planet.
Science is finding out what is, and governments represent people who are – which is why good policy, including the honourable goals of international cooperation, is based on science.
