Today we have a clip whose tone resounds with brightness and wonder 30 years after it broadcast. A public TV special seldom gets more science-focused than this, with regular updates and direct looks at Voyager 2’s images and data readouts as it passed Neptune – still the only spacecraft to have done so.
Truly a morning of stillness and revelation unique to history – and dig the studio. (And a heartening moment to subsequently recognize Dodd in recent years’ NASA press conferences.)
