Today, an addition to our library of views on the solar system: the most detailed view of the sun available from a new Hawaii-based telescope.

NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory has provided cross-spectral views of the sun for a decade, but the Daniel K Inouye Telescope surpasses it for detail. Zooming in this close reveals boiling plasmic cells the size of countries – click through for the time lapse.
