While my recent posts made use of the distinguished abbreviation "predic" to mean "prediction," I am aware that recent memetic tides have popularized its use to mean "predicament": certainly a delightful use in itself.

(Neither use stands for "predicate," which remains the only version of the abbreviation in the Oxford English Dictionary.)
