The Wii U eShop ends soon.
While I understand Nintendo's full-throttle focus on the Switch, I still maintain a quiet lament that the Wii U – Nintendo's best console overall, in my own opinion – wasn't the worldwide hit the Switch has proven to be.
I guess it's not surprising the eShops on the Wii U (and 3DS) are about to be closed, then. In short, you can add funds until May, redeem the value of eShop cards until August, and use funds to purchase games through March 2023. After that, support remains only for re-downloading games, demos and updates to which you were already entitled. It looks like Nintendo has already removed the preview pages for the applicable products. (Almost a consolation, they've also launched a site for reviewing your "memories," such as play time per game, with those platforms.)
The Wii U's Virtual Console was the best official collection of past games I'm aware of, spanning from the NES through even the Wii, not to mention the wide range of native third-party software. If you want to make peace by adding any final titles to your library, I suppose this would be the time.
