Minimal blogs with Bear.
This cool web-based project, "Bear" by Herman Martinus (not the writing app for Mac), is one convenient way to have a personal web site if all you want is to write posts.
The main features are listed on the main page: in brief, simplicity and lightweightness. (It looks like it's free "to blog" – I'm assuming features like custom styling are paid.)
I already have a nice blog which is already the result of another cool, web-based project (if I will), but what's surprised me about Bear is that I keep returning to it. My own last couple of posts have been links to Bear posts, which I keep finding through its discovery feed, an unexpectedly social-feeling place where the voices of Bear bloggers converge and link to their authors. When I want something to read, it usually surfaces something halfway intelligent and satisfying from a previously invisible viewpoint, much like the ideal web.
