People who say their iPhone is their main device.

I'd certainly guessed that the incredible evolution of portable devices over the last 15 years has nurtured many whose main device is their iPhone, but this was the first place I've found with comments directly from some of them.

My MacBook has really only been for grad school work and professional things.

The only time I use my MacBook is if I need to apply for a job.

Only pull out my MacBook Air for schoolwork/typing papers or long emails.

My main desk, with its main desktop machine, has been like a spiritual centrepiece of my dwelling since childhood. As someone who programs, composes, makes films, broadcasts, and more, it's difficult to imagine otherwise. But I'm enjoying the exercise of imagining what it's like for those people. More of their comments can be found here:

For certain professions and types of assignments, an iPhone is already probably the more necessary tool. The trend stands out among those commenters: the "computer" is relegated to professional or school-related work, as needed. I wonder how long before that even that seems an odd thought to most people.
